About Me

My photo
I retired on March 11th 2014 after 26 years as a doctors receptionist. I am now looking forward to the freedom to enjoy my days doing anything I wish to. Spending time with family, catching up with friends. Playing in my Scrappy Shack, scrapbooking, cardmaking, art journalling, quilting, gardening, baking. Spending wonderful times with my beloved other half. I am so looking forward to this time in my life.

Look What I Made.....

My first patchwork ever!!

I went to a class today and this is what I produced. My first ever piece of patchwork.
With help and advice from the lovely Ella at  "Sew Simple" up at Lady Heyes.
I was not looking forward to the class to be honest, trying to get to know my new sewing machine was quite stressful and me and the bobbin did not get on at all!! The last time I sewed a seam I was 15 and hated needlework class at school.

But now I am very, very happy and I now know I am about to embark on yey another addiction.
All because I wanted to make something for LillBo Quilts, I did not realise what I was letting myself in for.Now I know I can have a lot of joyful satisfaction.

  1. I haven't sewed since junior high school, but maybe there's hope for me. I am thinking about learning to crochet. You've inspired me to look for lessons.

  2. Oh, Sheilagh, how lovely. The LillyBo Quilt project is having great results all round as it has inspired so many people to have a go and now, look what you've made. Well done you must be proud of yourself. The ladies at Lady Heyes are so nice... we visited and I din't realise the quilt shop had got so big. I bought quite a bit of fabric there too.
Four of the quilt makers made their first ever one so they could be a part of it all, and now you. You are a star! A little quilt for LillyBo then a bedspread for YOU!!! Than the rest of the family will want them too.
    What have I started.
2 more have just rolled in so keep an eye out for them on the blog.
lots of love Jo x and good luck!
