About Me

My photo
I retired on March 11th 2014 after 26 years as a doctors receptionist. I am now looking forward to the freedom to enjoy my days doing anything I wish to. Spending time with family, catching up with friends. Playing in my Scrappy Shack, scrapbooking, cardmaking, art journalling, quilting, gardening, baking. Spending wonderful times with my beloved other half. I am so looking forward to this time in my life.

Getting Ready to Retreat

The living room here at the "Shoebox" is looking a little like a craft shop in distress at the moment.  I am getting sorted early for  Rosemary Merry's Scrap Camp next week July 6th to 8th. I always seem to forget something and have to rely on Trish to bail me out.  So this year I am getting sorted early.  All my photo's have been ordered and final batch arrived today. So now I am busy trying to sort papers, cardstock, embellishments etc...

Has anyone any tips for taking "stuff" to retreat's or crops.

  1. I do one of two things. I either:

Choose to work on a themed album...like a wedding album or perhaps a heritage album.
This is the easiest choice as I then just bring everything I own that is wedding related! LOL
    OR
I choose my photos such as you have done. I then build page kits. Cardstock and PP get placed in an Iris case. I name and number the kit like this : #1 - Joe's birthday 2012. I write this on a piece of florescent cardstock (so it shows up when peering in) and I place it on top of the paper.

I then place ribbon, embellishments, stamps, cutout dies, alphas, brads etc in a 13x15 Ziploc bag. I staple # 1 - Joe's birthday to the bag of embellishments etc. I then place the bag in a separate iris case as I do not like my paper bashed or dented from the weight and thickness of the embellishments etc.
Photos for these pages are then marked !1 - Joe's birthday and placed in a photo box.

I continue on in this manner with set # 2, #3, #4, etc, @till I have filled the 3 cases. The 1st iris case has stacks of paper divided by the florescent pages containing the topic. The second case is full of the Ziplock bags, clearly marked. The 3rd is full of the photos which are clearly marked and separated.

I then grab my tool bag off the table and fee m"good to go". On those less organized times when I do not have my die cuts precut, I also pack a bin with my big shot and all my dies and plates:(

  3. I've not seen any of Rosemary Merry's stuff so I'm intrigued by the retreat - do let us know how you get on. I hope you are feeling more confident about your packing now :-) Your list of things that you are at the top of your blog has lots of aspects similar to me :-)
